Our Process
The goal of sustainable building methods is to minimize the environmental impact of construction while creating homes that are energy-efficient, durable, and healthy for their occupants. Specifically, sustainable building practices aim to reduce energy consumption, conserve natural resources, improve environmental quality, enhance occupant health and comfort, increase durability and resilience, lower carbon footprint, support renewable energy integration, and economic benefits.
Timber Framing
Timber is a natural insulator, meaning it slows down the transfer of heat. This helps keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling. By reducing reliance on HVAC systems, homes built with timber framing can significantly lower energy consumption and utility bills.
Double Glazed Windows
Double-glazed windows are designed with two panes of glass separated by an air gap or gas-filled space. This design creates an insulating barrier that minimizes heat transfer between the inside and outside of the home. This results in less heat loss in winter, less heat gain in summer, and improved thermal comfort.
Colorbond Cladding
Colorbond steel is known for its thermal efficiency. It reflects more of the sun’s heat, especially if light colors are chosen, which helps keep homes cooler in hot climates. Additionally, Colorbond cladding has excellent insulation properties when combined with proper underlayers, helping homes maintain a steady internal temperature. The use of recycled steel in Colorbond also lowers the overall carbon footprint of the materials used in construction.
